Biometrics Institute Congress 2025
The annual global Biometrics Institute Congress takes place in London on 15 and 16 October. This is the largest global gathering of biometric practitioners, government, regulators, civil society, and academia, with delegates from the United Nations, FBI, Interpol, UKG, European Commission, U.S. Homeland Security, Airports, academia, policing, and industry.
The Scottish Biometrics Commissioner Dr Brian Plastow will give a keynote address discussing the use of biometrics in policing for both evidential and intelligence purpose. He will also be a panel member on two other discussions. One relates to the future of biometrics, the other asks whether there should be a ‘kill switch’ for when systems are unethical or go wrong.
SBC Director Cheryl Glen will be speaking in a discussion session with the FBI, Meta, Big Brother Watch and the United Nations on AI and Facial Recognition: Ethics and Regulation.
This is an open event and further information for interested parties can be found on the Biometrics Institute website: Congress 2025 programme - Biometrics Institute
